Money-saving tips

TIP #1:  MAINTENANCE

The best way to care for and enjoy an acoustic piano is to have the instrument serviced regularly.  Similar to automobile maintenance, regular intervals of relatively inexpensive servicing can reduce the need for expensive work down the road.  Tuning is only one aspect of piano service.  Ask your technician about what regular maintenance should include.

TIP #2:  AVOID SERVICE CALLS

Specific problems with a piano can usually be addressed during a regular tuning appointment.  If a service call is made apart from a tuning appointment, a service call fee applies.  If possible, have problems cared for when the technician is already on site for a tuning, when the service call fee is waived.

TIP #3:  KEEP THE PIANO IN TUNE

Not an immediate money-saver, this tip is good for the overall quality of the piano, more of a long-term investment.

When a piano is more than 5% flat or sharp of a desired pitch, a pitch correction is needed before it can be tuned.  A piano that is regularly tuned will likely need only minor pitch corrections.  The resulting stability benefits the instrument and the musician.
